In 1889, Carl Berkenhoff founded a wire-drawing workshop near Merkenbach/Herborn. In 1895, the merchant Paul Drebes joined the company. Over 100 years later, in 1996, the company Berkenhoff & Drebes started the development of fiber optic lighting systems. Under the brand name “bedea akzent”, fiber optic lighting systems became established on the market. Since then, we have been continuously developing in the field of effect lighting together with our customers and national research centers. In 2006, a large, impressive showroom was opened in Aßlar. We have been manufacturing fiber optic cables for signal transmission of optoelectronic sensors for industrial applications since the 1970s. The expertise of our long-standing employees from the center of the German fine optics industry in and around Wetzlar flows into our products.
